Local Rules

EATON GOLF CLUB LOCAL RULES

1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27-1)

a) Beyond the course side face of any wall or fence or trunks of hedges or line of white stakes defining the boundary of the course.

b) Beyond any line of white posts surrounding the Clubhouse patio, practice putting green, practice area and greenkeepers’ area.

c) On the 14th hole, to the left of the line of white posts, beginning and ending with double white posts (Note: the white posts are immovable obstructions when playing any other hole. Rule 24-2 applies).

 

2. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-2)

a) The stone parapets bounding the culverts on the 13th and 14th holes.

b) All artificial surfaced roads and paths outside the margins of water hazards.

c) Relief, without penalty, from a bridge is only available outside the margins of a water hazard. A ball which comes to rest on a bridge within a water hazard may be played as it lies or relief taken under penalty. (Rule 26-1 applies).

d) Staked trees or trees protected by plastic rabbit spirals.

e) All irrigation system covers and sprinkler heads. In addition, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a hazard and an immovable obstruction on or within two club ­lengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows:- The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted.

3. WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26)

Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes or lines. Lateral water hazards are defined by red stakes or lines. Where both stakes and lines occur, the line defines the boundary, stakes indicate the presence of the hazard.

4. GROUND UNDER REPAIR (Rule 25)

Relief is mandatory from:

a) All plantations of young trees and shrubberies marked by a chemical bum line and/or GUR sign.

b) Other areas enclosed by a white line or marked as GUR.

5. MISCELLANEOUS

a) Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 24-1 applies).

b) Heavy vehicle tracks may be treated as GUR (Rule 25-lb applies).

6. TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES

These will be detailed on Notice Boards from time to time.

7. PENALTIES

For infringement of Local Rule: Match Play - Loss of Hole; Stroke Play - Two Strokes.
