Speed today was 8’ 7”. It’s been affected by strong growth from the greens being fertilised in the week followed by a reasonable rainfall on Wednesday. Annual meadow grass seed heads are also prominent. This clears away later in June. Average speed year to date is 9’2”, high for so early in the season.
One of the (5) cutters on the rough cutter caught fire (!) yesterday and can’t be attended to until early next week. The cutter has been disabled so we can still use the machine but the central stripe is missing, meaning double cutting for now - not good at this time of year. More evidence of the very heavy use the mower has been put to.
